Multilevel Marketing (MLM), also known as Network Marketing or Affiliate Program, is given by experts, participants (members) and companies as an excellent business opportunity since the mid-90s and should continue like a great choice, at least, for around 2015.

But … do you really know what is Multilevel Marketing?

I thought I knew, and thought that it didn’t work for me. However, some months ago I decided to try to learn really what is MLM and I’m surprised by what I learned – and still look just beginning!

Due to the words of T. Harv Eker, author of Secrets of the millionaire mind, mentioning how Network Marketing can be an interesting way to earn money because of the famous “residual earnings”, I started to think about it. At the time, I was a little skeptical, but I thought well, he has millions of dollars, I have bills to pay, who knows more about money? Furthermore, I have a great respect for him and if he was saying this, I could not belittle her!

Not only Harv Eker who supports Multilevel Marketing: Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad – What the rich teach their kids about money – that poor and middle class do not!, recommends it as a way to get extra income too, that can help you to get your financial independence.

They are very rich and are talking about money, so why not take a chance?

What is Multilevel Marketing?

We can define Multilevel Marketing:

Multilevel marketing is a form of marketing (we can define marketing as all necessary efforts to disseminate and distribute products, services and business) where a person / entity can act as adviser (generally known as marketer or affiliate) not only for future customers, but also for future new advisers, doing number of participants in the activity of marketing grow exponentially.

In view of members, it is a relationship / opportunity of kind of “win-win-win”: the consumer wins by having more options to find information on products or services; the company wins, getting make the sale of your product or service provision, and the affiliate gains, which, by acting as “bridge” that their relationship, gets well deserved commission.

You should now see that disclose and then sell the company’s products is one of the roles of the affiliate, but not the only one. Another important role is to recruit new members, thus forming a network of affiliates in which the recruiter is known as a sponsor. And that is reason why it’s also known as Network Marketing.

And you can ask: what are the benefits being a sponsor? And what are the benefits having a sponsor?

For the sponsor, the affiliate program benefits you with a percentage commission based in affiliates’ commisions, so the more your affiliates earn, the more he earns.

For the affiliate, the great advantage is your sponsor also wish that he will succeed (because the success of the affiliate also means the success of the sponsor), so the sponsor will be available and ready to guide and help him, especially in his first steps. Thus, affiliate programs also represent a relationship of win-win-win between the marketing company, sponsor (who is also an affiliate) and affiliate (which is the newest affiliate).

And how does it work, in practice?

First of all, it is important to remember that MLM is not a “get rich scheme”. It takes patience, discipline and determination.

Unfortunately the Internet is full of swindlers trying to sell you a product, have argued that is the “best autopilot system and you’ll get rich in some hours.” Don’t trick yourself, it does not exist: if it worked, it would not be selling it, but using for their own benefit.

On other hand, the Multilevel Marketing has detailed training programs, reports showing the amount of commissions and earnings for each affiliate, detailed information on products or services that you may disclose, etc.. It doesn’t promise that you’ll get millions of dollars overnight, but it offers the real opportunity to start your own business and, best of all, with a low start-up capital.

If you are interested, the first step you should take is to register yourself in any affiliate program and study how it works: rules, commissions and payments.

After, it’s time to start your work, but do not worry: your sponsor will help you to find the best path for your profile, and what marketing techniques you can use.
